PARTIALLY OPEN DUE TO CAR CRASH!
I'll keep a running account for you. Read from the bottom up.
Delivery and Take-Out available now.
--------------------------
Friday 2-17-23 Woohoo! We were able to take Doordash orders today. Still some issues with the
credit card machine and the ticket printer in the kitchen but we can take call-in orders for take-out
now. The door guys installed a new door. It is a double door. You're gonna love the wider space to
enter now. Drop ceiling completely repaired now. The entertainment system (TV's and radio) are still
down and will be down for a while. We put up drop cloth shielding so you don't have to see what's
left of the bar area. Everything is clean and shiney. One last check in the morning and we think we
have addressed all the health and safety things. The glass folks said we should have a complete new
storefront within a few days now. Driver's insurance says "we don't have enough" meaning it is a
small insurance policy. Arizona minimum on property damage is $15,000 and that won't go very far.
-------------------------
Thursday 2-16-23 Repaired the damage to the floor at the entrance area. It isn't pretty, but it is safe.
Replaced some of the grid and drop ceiling. The side flood lights and center chandelier lights are out
due to the electrical damage at the front and will not be restored for a while. We have the overhead
box lights going though so plenty of light after sunset. Internet is going now but still some phone
glitches. You can call us now and we'll get the call. Spent the day cleaning and repairing
and Nattha and Sam made a boat load of rolls and crab puffs for you.
------------------------
Wednesday 2-15-23 We moved forward with cleaning. Century Link showed up and left. Still no internet or our main
phone number. Started working on the computer cables and whatnot that were torn out. Started
ceiling repair.
-------------------------
Tuesday 2-14-23 Happy Valentine's Day. Nattha and our staff are enjoying the day off. We thought we would have internet today but no.
Century Link was supposed to call us and come inside and repair the torn wiring. We have one phone line working.
Unfortunately Century Link tested outside and left. We can get another repair ticket in two days (Thursday).
Need internet for DoorDash and credit cards. Thurday the architect will be here to take a look. He's really good.
We hope to have the storefront underway for a temporary repair also on Thursday. Apparently the only glass company
that makes the special type of glass to match the shopping center is 6 weeks out. So the plan is to be open for take-out
and delivery by the end of the week and then dine-in shortly after that.
We did get the vent pipes restored today. The walls dried out nicely. We thought we might get the credit card reader
going with a mobile hot spot but it turned out to be too slow. Of course, lots of cleaning.
We might be readyy for take-out / DoorDash on Thursday, but most likely it will be Friday. There is a possibility
we can have dine-in open of Friday, but we don't know for sure yet. We need to make sure the inside is safe for
each and every one of you so we will be cautious about opening up the dining area. The TV's and entertainment
will be down for a while. We might get that running by next week but not likely. The bar will likely be closed for a
few weeks due to water and electricity shutoff in that location - which will take a while to restore as well as the time
to rebuild the bar area. We should have beer / wine when the dining area re-opens but cocktails will be unlikely
for a while.
We appreciate everyone's support and prayers and kind words.
-----------------------------
Monday 2-13-23 We got the flood water removed. The damaged walls have come down. Found the cold water shutoff and while there are some issues
we were able to adjust the pipes and whatnot to get water restored. We were able to get generators for the day and
keep the freezer going. Have the walls opened up at the bottom to dry out and let the water out. Not sure if the floor will survive,
but it might. So we ended the day with power restored and the gas lines functioning and all the debris removed.
Nattha got the day off! She hasn't had a day off since we bought the restaurant in March of 2022. I pampered her with some crab claws
and a massage. Sam, our awesome head chef was quite surpised at the damage but happy to spend the day with his kids.
We don't have internet and the main phone line is not working. If you call you might go to line two and if we are there we'll answer.
We will be able to open for take-out in a day or two. There's no front door. Just plywood.
So getting a front door is high priority now. The interior won't be suitable for dine-in for a while. The entertainment system is a
shambles and we have a lot of tech work to do. The driver hit our tech area so hundreds of wires and cables torn out.
-------------------------
Sunday 2-12-23 Young driver entered the parking lot in the early evening today. She told police she turned left into the parking lot from the street
between the restaurant and PaloVerde HS. Apparently she blew the turn (police said her foot was "stuck" on the accelerator).
She drove through our front door and bar area. The restaurant was closed. Nattha and family had been there prepping for the week and rolling those hand crafted spring rolls and making all kinds of fun stuff for you. We left earlier than normal that day.
By the grace of G-d, nobody (other than the driver possibly) were injured.
A Tucson official ordered all the electricity off. She said she would listen to TEP. TEP showed up and refused to identify himself. He said he would listen to the official. There was electrical damage at the front of the store and the owner (Eric) shut off all the circuit breakers.
Eric also shut off the hot water. There is no cold water shutoff unless the entire complex be shut down (funny the builders got that past the City).
So the property manager maintenance guy got the cold water pipe pinched. A plumber showed up and installed a shutoff to the area.
The City official told us that if our electrician could show up in the morning she would have the power restored. We take her at her word.
But it won't save the food. Our head chef is working overnight to get his other chef friends to store the food. We have the safety of
our clients first. Food can be replaced. We will do what is right.
We've asked the property manager in the past for speed bumps. No response.
Our maintenance folks were there until late. We will have the critical things (other than the loss of the food) resolved in a few hours.
You will see the building boarded up with a notice. This is necessary for safety. It is quite the mess inside. She hit the bar and a wall
between the bar and the lobby/cash registier area and took out the wall between those two areas. Her car was fully inside. She apparently
backed it out on her own so I'm guessing the injuries are not that serious. So all those bottles of alcohol are busted open. Glass everywhere.
Nattha and Eric and family attend a Baptist church in Tucson and we have the faith of Job. We thank you for your support and we are
very grateful that nobody was hurt. We hope that the landlord will address the problems.
